The basic dimensions for a pickleball court are shown below.

Note the size and location of the "non-volley zone". Balls are allowed to bounce in the non-volley zone and players can hit shots in this zone as long as the ball bounces first. The non-volley zone is sometimes referred to as the "kitchen". Volley shots must be hit behind this zone. If running to hit a volley shot, your momentum cannot carry you into the "kitchen" until after the opposing team has hit their return shot.

When playing doubles, you need to (typically) cover only half the court which is a 10'x22' area.
